There is tons of pieces of advice on the internet about how to plan an Airbnb wedding. Logistics guides, checklists, top-10 round-ups, most of it generic enough to apply to any couple in any state. That’s not what this is. This is my tell-all guide to planning an Airbnb wedding in Arizona, and it comes from someone who’s been there, done that.
You’re probably thinking, “Who’s this girl?” I’m Kelsey, a wedding and elopement photographer who works with non-traditional couples and has been to more weddings than I can count. But what really sets me apart from all the other advice online is that I was a 2025 bride, and I planned my own Airbnb wedding weekend. I’ve been right where you are now, scrolling Google, desperate for advice.
This blog is everything I wish I’d known while I was planning my own wedding, mixed with the tricks and secrets I’ve picked up after years of photographing weddings. Let’s get into how to plan the Airbnb wedding weekend of your dreams!

The Key to a Relaxed & Connection-Focused Wedding Weekend
Imagine this…After months of wedding planning, you pull up to the driveway of your Airbnb on a Thursday evening. The sun is dropping, cooling the desert to a light sweater temperature, my personal favorite. You unload the car and settle into what will be your wedding venue in a few short days.
By Friday afternoon, your people have arrived, and the house comes alive. Everyone is catching up and belly laughing, cheeks already sore from smiling too hard. Someone suggests lunch in town, and you find a spot you’ll still be thinking about on your wedding day. That evening’s welcome dinner is catered, but it feels like a family dinner. Everyone passes plates and pours their own wine, and you finally get real conversations instead of small talk.
You wake up on Saturday already at your venue. Instead of a 6 AM alarm and a scramble to get everyone where they need to be, you pour coffee and sit on the patio to drink it. There’s no urgency. You’re already exactly where you need to be. That feeling carries through the whole day. You skip the surface-level catch-ups with people you haven’t seen all year, since they’ve already been with you all weekend. The long talks and late-night porch conversations already happened. Now you just get to celebrate.
On Sunday, everyone wakes up slowly to sunlight through the windows, recovering from the dance floor the night before. Someone orders breakfast burritos, and somehow they’re the best you’ve ever had. Bags get packed slowly, and hugs last a little longer than usual.
This is what happens when you host your wedding at an Airbnb. Instead of a few hours squeezed into one event, you get days of connection. That changes the whole feeling of your day.

How to Find an Airbnb Wedding Venue in Arizona
Finding an Airbnb that doubles as a wedding venue takes a little more digging than opening the app and looking for something cute. I wish it were that easy! Don’t worry, though; I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve. But before we get into that, there’s something you need to know:
Unfortunately, you cannot just book an Airbnb and have a wedding. You’re risking getting kicked out and potentially not having a wedding at all, and we don’t want that! The property could have an HOA with noise restrictions, the owner may not have the right insurance, or the city may have rules around events in residential places. So before you book anything or pay a deposit, message the host directly and ask if a wedding is even allowed. Please, do not risk it!
Now, before you open the app, make a list of your needs. Confirm your guest count so you know how many beds and bathrooms you’ll need. Think through accessibility, pets, parking, and budget. These are your non-negotiables. Then make a list of wants and nice-to-haves. Do you want a pool or a hot tub? What about a bath in the primary suite? These are the things you’d have in your dream venue, but aren’t going to make or break your experience.
Once you know what you’re looking for, use the filters tool to narrow your search. When you find a property you like, message the host directly. I like drafting a generic message with your guest count and wedding plans so you can copy and paste it without losing your mind.
You may also want to look beyond Airbnb. Search terms like “private estates,” “vacation rentals,” “boutique inns,” “bed and breakfasts,” and “event-friendly rentals” can help you find more options. VRBO also has an “events allowed” filter, which is a dream feature!

Questions to Ask Before Booking an Airbnb Wedding Venue
Since Airbnbs don’t typically host events, they don’t have processes built with weddings in mind. That means that you’re responsible for knowing and coordinating every little detail. You’ll want to ask every question you can think of. Then ask a few more. Nobody is going to think you’re annoying, I promise!
After photographing my fair share of weddings, here are a few questions couples tend to miss that I would add to your list just in case:
- Is there a limit to the event guest count?
- Are there noise ordinances in the area?
- Is there enough parking for all my guests?
- What’s the limit for overnight guests? Event guests?
- Is your property pet-friendly?
- Is it wheelchair accessible?
- Which rooms get the best natural light?
- Have you hosted a wedding before?
- Do you have the appropriate permits and insurance for an event?
- Are there any damage deposits or cleaning fees?
- Are candles, sparklers, or open flames allowed?
- What’s the cancellation policy?
- Is the wifi and cell service reliable?
- What are the check-in and check-out times?
- Are there restrictions on what we can use as decor?

What I Learned as a Bride: Tips for Planning Your Airbnb Wedding in Arizona
Being a 2025 bride myself, I feel confident that I’ve got some great advice. Call me cocky, I don’t care! I planned my own Airbnb wedding weekend from start to finish, and I made plenty of mistakes along the way. But I also learned a handful of things that make the whole weekend more fun and feel more like us. These are the things I’d tell my best friend if she called me tomorrow and said she was planning a wedding.
DIY Projects Don’t Have to Be Stressful
Everyone will tell you that DIY projects eat up your time, and I get why they say that. But DIY-ing our florals turned into one of my favorite memories from the entire weekend. The night before our wedding, my girlfriends and I picked up a mountain of flowers from Trader Joe’s (highly recommend bulk ordering from them if you’re ballin’ on a budget) and spread everything across the kitchen table. We blasted music, drank wine, ate snacks, and laughed about our lopsided arrangements. They weren’t perfect, but the memory behind it was. If a DIY project sounds fun to you, do it! Joy is the whole point!

Let Your People Help You
Your people are going to ask what they can do to help, and I want you to say anything but no! Give them something real to do. The morning before my wedding, I handed out jobs. Someone could set out place settings, arrange flowers, light candles, set up the speakers, direct vendors, organize drinks… should I go on? There is plenty to do, and you shouldn’t be doing it all!
Stay a Couple of Days
Let yourself settle in before your day arrives. We got to our property four days before our wedding, and those first two nights mattered just as much to me as the wedding day itself. We spent quality time with our favorite people, explored the town, ate great food, and really made ourselves at home. By the time our wedding day arrived, we felt comfortable in the house like it was our own, and that changed the whole vibe of the day.
Have a Slow Morning
On the day of your wedding, resist the urge to fill every minute with a plan. I woke up early on purpose, before anyone else in the house, and just sat on the back patio with my coffee. No hair and makeup rush, no timeline taped to the fridge telling me where to be. Once everyone else woke up, we made a big breakfast together and ate it outside while the morning was still cool. That slow start set the tone for the entire day. By the time I got ready for the ceremony, I felt calm instead of frazzled, and I remember every part of that morning clearly instead of it being a blur as so many brides describe.
Plan for The Morning After
Don’t let the weekend just die out! Plan a low-key breakfast or easy hike for the morning after your wedding to ease back into real life. It doesn’t have to be a full event. Breakfast burritos, bagels, a bunch spot, whatever feels fun and easy.

My Favorite Private Estate & Airbnb Wedding Venues
Paradise Valley Villa
Paradise Valley Villa is for the larger crews that don’t want to sacrifice comfort for beauty. It sleeps 14 people across 5 bedrooms, and each room gets its own bathroom and mini kitchen. Talk about luxury! There’s a pool for lounging, and it’s dog-friendly too. Downtown Scottsdale is just a 15-minute drive, so great food and shopping are right there!

Tierra del Sol
Full disclosure: I’m wildly biased about this one because it’s where I got married! CUTE!!! Tierra del Sol isn’t technically an Airbnb, but it has that same vibe where your entire weekend happens under one roof. I still think about the light here. It’s what every photographer dreams of. If you want the real details, message me, and I’ll gush about it properly.

Joshua Tree House
Joshua Tree House in Tucson is one of those properties that does all of the work for you. You rent the entire place, so it’s just you and your people with zero strangers within miles. It fits micro weddings up to 22 guests or fully private elopements, and the design is so dialed in you barely need to bring in extra decor. Sunset out there is unfair to every other venue on this list, and I will absolutely be hyping you up when it hits.

Frequently Asked Questions About Airbnb Wedding Venues
What amenities should I look for in an Airbnb venue?
When looking for an Airbnb wedding venue, start with the unsexy stuff. Parking, bathrooms, guest capacity, outdoor space, all that jazz. I know! Not nearly as fun as imagining your ceremony under twinkle lights, but these are the details that keep your wedding from turning into a logistical dumpster fire.
After that, look for amenities that make the weekend feel easier, more comfortable, and more fun. A big kitchen is great if you want to cook meals together. As a photographer, I’m always looking at the light situation, and natural light is a girl’s best friend! Outdoor seating, covered patios, fire pits, and a pool are also super nice to have in the Arizona heat.
What are the best websites to find Airbnb wedding venues?
The best websites to find an Airbnb wedding venue are Airbnb, VRBO, Peerspace, and Google. Airbnb is a good place to start, but don’t assume a listing allows weddings just because it’s beautiful and has a massive backyard. Always message the host directly and get permission in writing. VRBO and Peerspace can also be great for finding event-friendly homes. If you’re using Google, use phrases like “Arizona private estate wedding venue,” “Arizona micro wedding rental,” and “vacation rental wedding venue in Arizona,” because sometimes the best spots aren’t technically Airbnbs.
Do I need event insurance for an Airbnb wedding?
This depends on the property, so add it to your list of questions to ask! Some hosts may require it, but even if they don’t, it’s one of those things where it’s better to have it and not use it than to need it and not have it!
How many guests can I invite to an Airbnb wedding?
The number of guests you can invite to an Airbnb wedding depends on a lot of things that I won’t bore you with listing. But the smaller, the better. Airbnb weddings work best for elopements and micro weddings, with most properties only allowing 10-15 overnight guests. Before you fall in love with a property, ask the host what the limit is and if you can have more event guests than overnight guests.
Can I hire vendors for my wedding at an Airbnb?
Yes, you can usually hire vendors for your Airbnb wedding, but this is another case of asking the host. Some hosts may have rules around vendor insurance, setup times, parking, cooking onsite, among other things. Basically, don’t assume and hope for the best. Always ask your host, and get everything approved in writing!
Should I hire a planner for an Airbnb wedding?
Yes, I’d absolutely recommend hiring a planner or coordinator for an Airbnb wedding, especially if you want the day to feel relaxed. Airbnb weddings come with more moving pieces than a traditional venue, from rentals and parking to vendor arrivals, setup, cleanup, noise rules, and making sure everyone knows where they’re supposed to be. Having a planner means someone else is holding the clipboard, answering questions, solving problems, and keeping the day moving while you’re busy getting married.
Is an Airbnb wedding cheaper than a traditional wedding venue?
An Airbnb wedding can be cheaper than a traditional wedding venue, but it really depends on the property, your guest count, and how much you need to bring in. The nightly rate might look like a steal at first, and then suddenly you’re adding tables, chairs, linens, lighting, bathrooms, catering equipment, trash removal, event insurance, and a coordinator, and the budget starts acting suspicious. For smaller weddings, an Airbnb can still be a beautiful and cost-effective option, especially if you’re using the space for the whole weekend. Just make sure you compare the full cost, not just the rental fee, before signing on the dotted line.
